The Center for the Visual & Performing Arts (CVPA) is a not-for-profit community outreach ministry in association with Sage Granada Park United Methodist Church headquartered in Alhambra, California. It was established in 2006 with a block grant provided by the California-Pacific Conference of Methodist Churches.It is supported by donations and contributions from volunteers and supporters of the arts.
Bill YeeExecutive DirectorThe Center for the Visual & Performing Arts (CVPA) was founded by former Senior Paster Phyllis Tyler and Cindy Leiby-Smith of Sage Granada Park United Methodist Church in 2006. Mr. Yee was invited to join the fledging community outreach program as one of its first directors and then assumed the leadership position in 2008. He has a background in performing arts and performed in Carnegie Hall on violin when he was 12. His musical background includes guitar, piano and vocals. He produced several jazz festivals and is currently in the 120-voice Lake Avenue Church Sanctuary Choir in Pasadena, CA under the direction of Dr. John Sutton and the Chapel Bells English handbell choir under the direction of Debbie Isenberg. During the Christmas season, he is also in the Dickens Holiday Carolers as one of the Edwardian Costumed singers. His business background includes careers in commercial real estate development, mortgage banking, retail home furnishings owner, national sales manager and restaurant management. He holds a degree in Hospitality and Restaurant Management from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts.
CVPA provides various forms of entertainment and education to the local community such as:
- Musical performances
- Dance performances
- Stage Plays
- Documentaries
- Art Exhibitions
CVPA supports local and nationally recognized talent and provides marketing and promotional support for the artists by way of articles, programs, posters, flyers, banners and electronic media.
CVPA is a member of the Consortium of Southern California Chamber Music Presenters and the Alhambra Chamber of Commerce.
